I’m not saying the National Park Foundation was never cool; just that when you think of the National Park Foundation the first thing that springs to mind isn’t cool. Actually it probably isn’t the 200th word that comes to mind. They don’t fulfill any of the requirements to be considered cool (the best litmus test being pop culture relevance), but they easily fulfill one of the ones to be considered uncool: I like them.

That’s all changing now with a snazzy new addition to their website. The new interactive area, called This Is Your Land, features an easily navigable home page where you can find any National Park you want, by searching through the states alphabetically, by the most viewed, the most popular or “hidden gems”. After you’ve found the National Park you’ve been looking for all your life day hour, you are then treated with very well chosen pictures from flickr members, as well information about the park, current temperature and weather, how to get there and what spots you can’t afford to miss once you’re in the park. You might be hesitant to commit to checking the site every day/week, but they have built this site specifically so it grows with the additions from the visitors. YAY! for interaction with the people!
